This whole concept of a transparent and attentive aggregator may be new to you. If you have questions, we hopefully have the answers. This FAQ section is a moving target, so please let us know if you have a question that isn't listed below.
What does Abluent do for me that other aggregators don't?
- Administers and manages your label content on Beatport exclusively.
- Guarantees your content goes live on time and appears correctly.
- Pays you within 45 days of the closing of each quarter.
- Exhibits full transparency by offering screen shots of realtime sales upon request.
- Provides business improvement tools to help you run your label more effectively and more efficiently.
What doesn't Abluent do for me?
- Solicit feedback.
- Send out promotional emails.
- Give you a reason to worry – your stuff will go up on time and look great!
- Rub your feet after a long day at the office
What do I need to get started?
You will need to turn in a signed agreement before we can set you up on our system. Once we have executed your agreement and returned to you, your label administration can begin.
What do you need from me?
In order for us to put your content on Beatport we will need:
- 16 bit / 44.1 kHz .wav files
- Artwork (square) – minimum 72 dpi, MUST BE 500 x 500 px .jpg or .bmp
- Metadata (Microsoft Excel spreadsheet provided in resources section)
All content should be provided in a folder with the following file name convention: Label Name – Catalog Number – Release Date
Ex. Label Name – Catalog Number – 2009.12.31How early should I turn my content in?
Releases should be delivered 21 days prior to the desired release date.
How do I set up an FTP account with Abluent?
For Mac - Download and install Cyberduck. If you don’t already have it, you can get it here.
For Windows - Download and install Filezilla. If you don’t already have it, you can get it here.
*** You may use any FTP client – the above programs are free and available for those who don’t already have an FTP client.
Now, use the following settings to access our FTP server:
FTP Username: [username given in introduction email]
FTP Server: ftp.abluentmedia.com
FTP Server Port: 21
Will my content show up under my own label name?
Absolutely. While Abluent will be managing the content of your label on Beatport, you will have total control over your brand and how it appears to your customers. Therefore, there will be no link between Abluent and your label as far as your customers are concerned.
